What is the Active Living Committee?
The Breckenridge Active Living Committee collaboratively works to promote and improve the health of residents by supporting regular activity through environmental changes such as “Complete Streets”, sidewalks, and bicycle trails. Safety and respect of all users of the transportation networks in the community is promoted through education.

Safe Routes to School~ 2023
The purpose of the SRTS Plan is to improve the current system to allow children/students to get to and from school in a safer manner.
The Breckenridge Active Living Committee has received a State Grant for a Safe Routes to School project and has put together a plan for engineering consideration. The current SRTS plan includes some of the following: sidewalk design, curb-gutter and asphalt cutting and removal, tree removal, storm drain design, signage, etc.

Wayfinding Signs ~ 2022
The wayfinding signs are helpful for people of all ages and are located in the highest traffic areas in Breckenridge. The signs will help inform visitors who might be coming here for baseball games, golfing, etc. and will also help remind our local residents that there are outdoor activities available for exercise and socialization.
The purposes of signage is to promote, identify, provide information, give directions or to raise safety awareness. Adding this signage to show residents and visitors what Breckenridge has to offer will not only promote and give direction to a few of the amenities located in Breckenridge, but will raise awareness for safety to possible extra pedestrian traffic.

Highway 75 Walk/Bike Path ~ 2018-2020
The Breckenridge Active Living Committee has received grants to get a walk/bike path along highway 75 to the CHI St Francis. This project was chosen from a public forum meeting held in 2011. This path is a 10-foot wide paved surface. This trail is just the beginning and the largest piece of a connecting network throughout the communities we are trying to implement.

Trails promote economically vital communities, and alternative modes of transportation. Allowing all ages to travel safely.
