2020 Wilkin County Fair Update from 05/14/20:

The Wilkin County Fair Executive Board held a Zoom Meeting on May 12th and unanimously voted to cancel the 2020 Wilkin County Fair. This is the first time we have cancelled the Wilkin County Fair since 1918 due to the flu pandemic and here we are again in 2020 - we even managed through in 1997! The safety and health of our entire community, guests, volunteers, vendors and exhibitors is our first priority when making this decision, as well as to preserve the financial ability of the Wilkin County Agricultural Society to present future fairs. With unknown challenges that lay ahead, we cannot be confident that it will be safe to gather as a large group. Given the restrictions concerning COVID-19, the safety and guidelines to follow is an enormous task to undertake. With restrictions in place such as social distancing, ability to sterilize equipment, wearing masks and out of state travel, it would be exceedingly difficult to conduct the fair. The Fair Board feels that this situation will not dramatically change in enough time to give you the full fair experience. It may seem early to make the decision to cancel now but the reality is even if some restrictions are lifted, fairs and festivals will be the last permitted to open. Again, our main concern is for the safety and health of our community, guests, volunteers, vendors and exhibitors. We appreciate your support, understanding and patience as we are all experiencing many summertime losses. The Wilkin County Fair will be looking ahead to 2021 and excited to see you then!
